The internal layout was reworked from top to bottom, creating an open-plan kitchen, new bathrooms throughout, underfloor heating, and brighter bedrooms through the addition of large windows and roof lights. Externally, the project required a careful approach to ensure the new work sat naturally alongside the original cottage. Reconstituted stone was selected to match the existing masonry in tone, texture and coursing, creating a clean continuation between old and new. The stone slate roof was lifted, checked and relaid, with new leadwork installed for long-term performance. Every elevation was repointed with tight, consistent joints to improve weathering and refine the overall finish. New agate-grey uPVC windows were fitted within crisp reveals, giving the cottage a clean but traditional appearance. The home also benefits from improved energy performance, with solar panels generating electricity on site and an air source heat pump providing efficient heating and hot water. The result is a carefully modernised family home that improves comfort, layout and energy efficiency, while retaining the character and detail of the original cottage.
