A look back at our Leeds projects, from turrets to timber frame

Natural stone new build house with slate roof built by Inspired Builds

Our current work is focused on Passive House and sustainable retrofit, but the team behind Inspired Builds has been building across Leeds for well over a decade. That range of experience, from new builds and extensions to conversions and commercial fit-outs, is what we bring to every low-energy project today.

Here is a look back at some of the projects that shaped us.

Westfield Terrace, Leeds (2009)

A distinctive new build house with a curved turret, finished in white render, red brick and cedar cladding. The turret needed an oval oak staircase, which our joiners built on site.

The Cottage, Adel (2010)

A single-storey stone extension matched to the existing house with new and reclaimed stone. Access was only through a narrow archway, so the logistics had to be planned carefully.

Grove Villas, Headingley (2015)

A former office building in a conservation area converted into 16 apartments. We retained and renovated the original timber windows and restored the feature staircase.

53 The Calls, Leeds (2016)

The conversion of a former Church Army building on Call Lane into 40 one and two-bedroom apartments, working with Den Architecture and keeping key original features.

Wensley Crescent, Chapel Allerton (2016)

A rear extension with internal walls removed to create a large open-plan living space under a roof lantern.

Alwoodley (2016)

A near-complete rebuild of a bungalow, keeping only two original walls and moving the living spaces to the south-facing rear.

The Grid, Headingley (2018)

A three-storey, 38-bed student accommodation built in timber frame on a tight former scrapyard site, finished in red brick and dark grey cladding.

Office conversion, Leeds (2018)

An industrial building converted into offices, with raw steel, polished concrete and desks and oak doors made on site by our joiners.

Bebington, Weetwood (2024)

Everything above fed into Bebington, our new build Passive House in Weetwood, certified Passive House Plus in June 2025.

What it all adds up to

Conservation areas, tight sites, stone matching, joinery made on site and complex conversions are exactly the skills a good retrofit needs. You can see more on our domestic and commercial pages, or get in touch about your project in Leeds.
